Rapture: That is a Great Label for the End of the World

The man from Mars stopped eating bars and eating cars and now he only eats guitars.

Did I lose you? Here's a bit of Blondie enculturement:

So other than "rapture" meaning the end of the world, it can also mean a feeling of joy or delight, ecstasy. I think I like that definition better.

"Rapture" by Henry John Stock (from artmagick.com)

Sounds like an interesting short story or novel. If you were to write/read a novel titled "Rapture" what would you want it to be about?

  1. I don't think I could write about that. I could write about anything earthy and involving the corporeal existence - but heaven is out of my purview right now. I will have to wait and see it when I get there, I guess! Love Blondie, by the way!

  2. Rapture...hm..... Maybe the pure beauty of the thoughts of a kid with Asbergers? Honestly, that is the first thing that comes to mind!

  3. Rapture: Finding a partner in life that you connect with on a multitude of levels. That you can trust implicitly with your thoughts, fears and dreams. One who is patient and kind and loving and supportive. Never critical, mean spirited or unaccepting of your faults and mistakes.

  5. Heaven has always seemed sort of boring to me. Will there be fart jokes in heaven?

What happens if you go up to John the Baptist and say: "Pull my finger . . ."

. . . if you're sort of person who would ask such questions, does that mean you just don't have a shot?

  6. I like Pame's definition a lot.

Gary, I'm really sorry to tell you this, but...I think you might not have a shot.

Rapture...hmmmm...Velocirapture--when all the dinosaurs were carried up.

  7. Rapture, be pure. Once upon a time I knew every line to that song. If I were going to write a short story about rapture it would be about a place called Rapture (Rapture, Missouri maybe)where the worst things happened to the best people. Not happy, but I think it would be interesting to read.
